ABOUT THE JOB:
Shellfish Culture is our brand that encompasses our Tasmanian hatchery. Working at Shellfish Culture will encompass all commercial production activities including microalgae culture, larvae and spat production, broodstock husbandry and site and systems maintenance. Using your experience and expertise will provide you with opportunities to expand your knowledge and be part of a driven, dynamic team.
AQUACULTURE - HATCHERY WORK EXPERIENCE/PLACEMENTS:
Shellfish Culture has been providing work experience for aquaculture students for many years. If you are interested, please submit an enquiry form.
For work experience you need to be a student and be at least 18 years of age, preferably studying aquaculture or related subjects. We will require a letter from the University or TAFE to confirm this
We prefer to only host one student at a time, however, subject to approval we can host two students at the same time.
You will be exposed to the day-to-day activities of a working oyster farm/hatchery. Shellfish Culture will provide you with hands-on aquaculture experience relative to the time of year and the normal activities of the farm for that time of year.
